Two days ago a partial solar eclipse took place, being visible through most of Europe and northwestern Asia. The Boston Globe has some nice photos of it!
Another three partial eclipses will take place in 2011:
- June 1st: mostlyvisible from high latitudes in the Northern Hemisphere
- July 1st: a small one, probably only visible in the Antarctic Ocean
- November 25th: the largest of the year, mostly visible from high latitudes in the Southern Hemisphere
And the Moon will also have an eclipse, but a total one:
- June 15th: a long event (about 100 minutes) visible from all the globe except North America
